Equinox is a charity which exists to provide support, care and recovery to people who are challenged by exclusion, marginalisation and a range of needs for special assistance such as mental health problems and substance misuse. Their own service users have coined the term ‘forgotten people’ to describe the section of the population that Equinox provide support to, in their thousands, each year.
Rocket To Recovery at 47/49 was a celebratory event created from scratch by Equinox service users, family members and volunteers. It was about having some fun, celebrating achievements and discussing the challenges of recovery from mental ill health, alcohol and drug dependence and homelessness. The day featured a talk by Alastair Campbell, comedy from Arthur Smith, laughter yoga, an art exhibition and recovery stories from a number of Equinox service users.
